Ellen Lough, Executive Director
Ellen Lough holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Skidmore College and a Master of Arts in Teaching English from Simmons University. Following the completion of her Master’s, she began her teaching career instructing 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English and math, as well as teaching computer science to kindergarten through eighth grade. While teaching kindergarten through eighth grade computer, she played a pivotal role in developing a comprehensive, school-wide computer science program.
After teaching in Providence’s inner-city schools, Ellen transitioned into administration, serving for two decades as the Director of Admission and Financial Aid and the Director of Little School Enrollment at Lincoln School in Providence, RI. In these roles, she was instrumental in designing and implementing financial aid and scholarship programs, ensuring that students from all socioeconomic backgrounds had access to an independent school education. Ellen also led the development of the Little School (an infant and toddler center), as well as Lincoln’s enrichment and summer camp programs. These innovative programs addressed the evolving childcare needs of 21st century families.
In 2014, Ellen became the Executive Director of New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program, where she dedicated ten years to supporting at-risk, economically disadvantaged children affected by parental incarceration and substance abuse. She raised funds for scholarships and co-curricular activities, guiding the students throughout their educational journey from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Currently, as the Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River, Ellen provides visionary leadership to the organization. Her role at the Museum encompasses strategic planning, financial management, grant development, fundraising, marketing, exhibit curation, and community relations. She works closely with volunteers, the Board of Directors, and the community to advance the Museum’s mission and enhance its impact.
Outside of work Ellen enjoys running, traveling, the beach, and spending time with her husband, three daughters, and two grandchildren.
